Hi, I’m Aduen. I was born in Tenerife and I have lived here all my life. My whole family is from the Canary Islands, and I grew up between Punta del Hidalgo, a small coastal village on the north coast of Tenerife, and San Cristóbal de La Laguna, the old university city just above it.
I have been to all eight inhabited islands: Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro and little La Graciosa. Each one is completely different, and that is exactly what most travel guides miss.
Why I started The Canary Insider
Every year millions of visitors come to the Canaries, and many of them only see the same few resorts. I wanted to write the guide I would give a friend: honest, practical and written by someone who actually lives here.
On this site you will find:
- Island guides to help you choose where to stay.
- Beaches, villages and viewpoints worth your time.
- Practical tips on weather, getting around and planning your trip.
How I write
I write about places I know. When something depends on official rules, such as prices, opening times or regulations, I recommend checking the official source before you travel, because these things change.
If you have a question about your trip, you can write to me through the Contact page.
